Sharing an Afternoon of Joy with Maria Salome Ferro Orphanage

Experience Peru beyond the trails. Learn how we visited the Maria Salome Ferro Orphanage in Cusco and how you can help support these amazing children.

Sometimes, the most meaningful experiences happen beyond the trails. Our recent visit to the Maria Salome Ferro Orphanage in Cusco was one of those moments.  Spending time with the incredible children there filled our hearts, reminding us of the power of connection and the importance of giving back.

The smiles, the laughter, the shared moments of play – these are the memories that will stay with us long after we leave Peru.  We connected with children of all ages, from playful four-year-olds to bright-eyed teenagers with big dreams.  Their resilience and spirit are truly inspiring.

The orphanage provides a safe and loving home for these children, but as with any organisation serving those in need, resources can be stretched thin.  That’s where the kindness of travellers like you comes in.

How You Can Make a Difference

We were so grateful to have the opportunity to donate clothes and school supplies to the children at Maria Salome Ferro. Seeing the excitement in their eyes over a new notebook or a warm sweater was a priceless feeling.  If you’re planning a trip to Peru, consider adding a visit to the orphanage into your itinerary.

Here’s how you can help:

  • Donate clothing: Children of all ages, from toddlers to teens, are in need of gently used or new clothing.
  • School Supplies: Notebooks, pencils, pens, backpacks, and other educational tools make a huge difference in their learning.
  • Your Time: Even if you don’t have donations, simply spending time with the children is incredibly valuable. Play games, read stories, share a bit of yourself – these connections matter.

A Thank You Filled with Gratitude

At Action Peru Treks, we believe that responsible tourism extends beyond enjoying the natural beauty of the Andes.  It means positively impacting the communities we visit.  We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all our clients who have joined us in supporting the Maria Salome Ferro Orphanage.  Your generosity is changing lives.

Together, we can create a world where every child has the support, resources, and love they need to thrive. If you’re interested in learning more about how to help, please contact us.
