Foods We Serve on Our Inca Trail Treks and Alternative Treks to Machu Picchu

Inca Trail Food Preparation is vital if you want to feel ready to take any route, whether a little afternoon stroll or a weeklong hiking trip, especially with the right food.

Good Inca Trail Food will get you going and aid in recovery from a long day on the trail. It’s best to carry snacks and meals that are light, filling, and nutritional to keep going on even the toughest backpacking excursions or lengthy walks.

Fortunately for our Salkantay Trek, Ancascocha Trek, Lares Trek, and others treks and tours, you won’t have to worry about all that because we’ve got you covered. Thanks to our expert chef and diligent porters, our trekkers can enjoy fresh, sumptuous food every mealtime during their trek. At Action Peru Treks, we hire trained and experienced chef, most of them even went to cooking school before they started to take groups on treks

If you want to know how we prepare and serve food on our Inca Trail treks, stick around. You will learn more about it.

How We Prepare and Serve Your Food

Fueling your body properly is a vital part of any hike. This is why it’s essential for us to provide quality food at your convenience and food that will keep you going until you reach the top of Machu Picchu.

Fresh and nutritious food

Whether on a diet or not, it’s always better to eat fresh and organic foods than processed and canned ones. Unfortunately, fresh meals are bulky and can have a short shelf life, making them unsuitable for backpacking trips.

Luckily, when you sign up for one of our trail treks, we guarantee that your food will be of the highest quality and freshly prepared. To begin, we calculate how much food you’ll need for the hike and then portion it out into individual meals so that you can save room and keep track of your food intake.

We always bring insulated coolers with ice packs in protective wrapping for shorter excursions or day hikes when the weather is warmer. Our skilled chefs cook your food at the campsites, which means they are served hot, fresh, and flavorful for you to enjoy!

Wide variety

It is crucial to have a variety of food alternatives in your meal plans while hiking because many hikers can only survive on different food day after day.

From freshly cooked rice and pasta to well-prepared sandwiches and wraps, you will definitely satisfy your cravings from the wide range of foods we serve. Moreover, if your choice of meal is vegetarian or vegan, we can also arrange this for you. For the sake of portability, we also bring a variety of condiments to spice up your meals.

Option for vegan and vegetarian meals

At Action Peru Treks, we understand that only some have the same restrictions. As such, we also provide a variety of tasty and nutritious vegan and vegetarian meals that also accommodate their dietary constraints.

Packed with energy to keep you going

Hiking is an exhausting activity that requires you to keep moving, which is why we only provide meals that will keep you energized while you’re on your way to Machu Picchu.

To energize you on your trek, we’ve included foods with carbs, healthy fats, proteins, and fiber that you’ll need throughout the day.

Convenient and hassle-free

Along this journey, you will be provided with tasty and healthy meals. Everything you eat all day, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner, will be perfectly cooked and ready for you when needed.

The snacks we bring on our two-day, one-night journey up the Short Inca Trail include almonds, raisins, chicken, quinoa, seasonal fruit, an energy bar, and brownie or chocolate cake.

We are committed to being eco-friendly; thus, this box lunch is in a cloth bag. Gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan alternatives are available at no additional charge.
